Chess Quest
Join us for an exciting and fun-filled in-person chess camp, perfect for beginners! Led by advanced players from the Belmont High School chess team. You'll explore key strategies, improve your skills, and have a great time playing face-to-face with friends and new teammates.
Beyond the board, we encourage community connections through friendly matches, group activities, and shared excitement for the game. Challenge yourself, play face-to-face, and build your chess skills in a supportive and friendly environment!
All proceeds will go to benefit the Massachusetts Chess Association (MACA) a nonprofit that works to support local chess communities.
Chess Quest Summer
Chess Quest Summer is a week-long summer program for children ages 6-12. The program is primarily designed for beginners, including those with no prior experience, but students of all skill levels are welcome.
The coaching staff consists of local student instructors with multiple nationally ranked, top-100 USCF-rated players for their age group, including 2026 state co-champion Jerry Chen.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of chess through interactive lessons, activities, and games. The program emphasizes both learning and fun, with a day ranging from focused lessons to fun activities outside the classroom during breaks.
The program runs five days per week from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM.
Tentative daily schedule:
8:00-8:30 AM: Dropoff Time, Puzzles for Early Arrivers
8:30-8:45 AM: Split into Groups by Experience, Review
8:45-9:30 AM: Lecture from Instructors
9:30-10:00 AM: Snacks and Free Play
10:00-10:45 AM: Group Chess Activity
10:45-11:15 AM: Outside/Inside Break
11:15-12:00 AM: Chess Activity 2/Free Play
Activities include simultaneous coach matches with game analysis, chess variants, puzzles, and more
