Drawing: The Language of the Line

In this class the students will learn through deep observation of set up domestic still-lifes, cross hatching techniques and values giving it depth and bringing it to life. Combined with fun short gesture exercises to extend our knowledge how to approach drawing. Developing a personal language of lines, the student will be introduced to different techniques such as red chalk, chinese white and dry brush techniques to train the eye and merge it with our intuition. This class also gives students the opportunity to learn more about art history, different artists and how they developed their approach and observed the world to express something which is beyond the physical world.
About Lea Baecksteiner
Lea is an artist and illustrator with a Masters Degree in Fine Arts and Illustration from the Neue Kunst Schule in? Basel, Switzerland. Her range of artistic media includes oil, gouache, watercolor, ink and digital painting. In addition to her work as a fine artist, Lea provides illustrations for? books, magazines and printed matter. Her style has been described as being playful, minimalist and well-proportioned. An accomplished artist, Lea has exhibited in New York City, Basel and Boston. ?Originally from Switzerland, she now lives and works in the greater Boston area.
